Katya Zakharenko
Katya has made it her mission to guide students toward a deeper awareness of themselves so they can create space for more fulfillment, radiance and joy -one breath at a time.
Her style is steady and soulful, with intelligently sequenced asana, pranayama, meditation, and mantra to unite body, breath, and the present moment.
Katya is attuned to the stresses and demands of modern life. She empowers students to explore their own uniqueness and fall in love with their weaknesses, not just their strengths, to achieve their potential. Katya believes in yoga as a tool to journey back home to our true selves.
Katya believes a great teacher is always a great student. She took her first yoga classes at Yoga Tree in San Francisco, and then made a lifelong commitment to studying Tantra, Hatha Yoga at Yoga Madre. Katya completed her RYT 200 hour and 300 hour teacher trainings with René Quenell at Yoga Madre, and has continued advanced studies with René and Rod Stryker.
When not teaching, Katya volunteers as co-founder and board member of Building Trust Americas. She loves travel, nature, art, photography, reading, time with friends and family, and dancing like no one’s watching.
Katya teaches Beginner, Mixed level and Flow classes, and assists with the Yoga Madre 200 Hour Teacher Training program.
