Class Descriptions
Yoga Tevana offers classes for students of all levels, from beginners to seasoned students and everyone in between. All are welcome.
Gentle Yoga
A 1-hour class of gentle stretching exercises and breathwork combined with relaxation, all at a slower pace. This is a perfect class for beginners, those in need of stress reduction, and those who may have limited mobility.
Beginning
A class for all students new to yoga or checking in with the basics. The focus is on breath, fundamental poses, and vocabulary. While classes will usually be somewhat challenging physically, they are taught at a slower pace, with detailed explanations of alignment and a focus on practicing the poses correctly. No experience or flexibility is needed.
Mixed Levels
This class is suitable for students with some prior experience. The focus will be on building strength and flexibility. There will also be more advanced breathing and meditation techniques. As appropriate, deepen your practice by exploring more challenging poses such as backbends, arm balances, and inversions.
Yoga-based Meditation
Meditation class based in the system of Vishoka Meditation. Focus includes simple breath-aligned asana, breath training practices, and seated meditation. Accessible to all levels of ability and experience.
Restorative Yoga
The Art of Doing Nothing. Deeply opening poses, held for several minutes with the use of props. Emphasis is on breathing, healing, and letting go.
Yoga Sculpt
Yoga Sculpt is a blend of traditional vinyasa Yoga sequencing with strength-training moves like squats, lunges, bicep curls, and cardio bursts. Props are always optional but light hand weights (1 - 2 lbs), ankle weights, and a pilates ball is recommended.
